How to fix a loose Zippo hinge
The hinge on my daily carry Zippo has gotten loose over time. The lid doesn't stay open anymore. Is this fixable or do I need to send it in for warranty?

If you want to DIY, the hinge pin can be tightened with a small hammer and punch. Requires some skill though.
Don't force it if you're not confident. A bad repair can make it worse. Warranty is free and guaranteed.
Some local watch repair shops can fix Zippo hinges. They have the right tools for small metalwork.
I've fixed several by carefully peening the hinge ends. Use a small ball peen hammer and patience.
It's a common issue with heavily used Zippos. The brass pin wears. Warranty is the easiest fix, honestly.
Zippo's lifetime warranty covers this for free. Send it in and they'll replace the hinge. Takes about 2 weeks.
