Budget-friendly ways to start collecting
Want to start collecting but don't have a huge budget. Maybe 5000 rupees to start. What's the best approach? Quality over quantity or build numbers first?

Quality over quantity always. One good Zippo is worth more than five cheap Chinese knockoffs.
Start with one quality piece - a proper Zippo. Learn about it, maintain it, appreciate it. Then slowly add more.
Online auctions can be good for building a collection cheap. eBay India, local Facebook groups. Patience pays off.
With 5000, get 3-4 different types - a Zippo, a Clipper, a budget torch, maybe one vintage. Learn what you like.
Flea markets and estate sales are your friend. I've found amazing vintage pieces for 100-500 rupees. Research before buying!
Focus on a niche to start - just Zippos, just petrol lighters, etc. Specialization helps you learn faster and spot deals.
I started by just picking up interesting pieces whenever I saw them cheap. Now I have 100+ and spent maybe 15k total over years.
